Supporting maintenance of the NVDA AT Driver server
A recent change to the AT Driver protocol necessitated modifications to both AT Driver implementations, and Bocoup was able to perform this maintenance. However, the patch to the NVDA AT Driver server was delayed due to limited organizational experience with the technology used to create it. We'd like to discuss whether it's appropriate for Bocoup to create a new version of the NVDA AT Driver server which they can maintain more efficiently.
Update on collecting "hint" text from VoiceOver
Our investigation into the stability of the VoiceOver Bot has identified the "hint" text as a notable source of variability. We believe that increasing recording delays is the best way to address this, but we also note that the approach will extend the time required for the bot to perform its tasks.
This also relates to the project's longer-term goals of explicitly annotating the "hint" text in VoiceOver responses. The plan of record for that feature is to run every test twice, so added delays will have a larger impact on execution duration in that future.
Continued evaluation of the project's reliance on GitHub Actions
We have yet to secure conclusive assurance about whether ARIA-AT's automation needs will be satisfied by GitHub's free services. This follows an extended effort to engage with GitHub staff and a series of tests designed to experimentally measure relevant limitations. We'd like to re-assess the risks we face, review the uncertainty concerning the project's long-term needs, and determine the best course of action.
