Meeting
This is a specific part of the overall Adapt Symbols Workshop, where we will present a summary of the work (use cases, implementation requirements) and any specific barriers we foresee. We will present a draft matrix that gives this overview from our current perspective before the call.
That being said, the details in the matrix are not so important for this call - we have produced the following list of questions we'd like to cover, to help us learn more about how symbols are used:
-
How 'localisation' of symbols - e.g. to specific groups or regions (within a wider country/symbol set) - currently works.
-
How personalised symbols for a specific person may be made and deployed.
-
The extent to which a base symbol set may be customised for local, or individual considerations.
-
Given that the first version of our proposed approach seeks minimal symbolisation for maximal results, what would be the most important content to highlight with symbols for our user population?
- E.g. we are thinking of a single symbol per row, for chapters in videos, or step-by-step procedures; the symbol functions as a summary to aid comprehension.
-
The sorts of technologies, graphics formats, used to provide symbols. Are popular symbol sets developed as vectors (even if released as bitmaps)?
