- The members of the W3C Device Independence Working Group wish to
express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of our
departed colleague, Mario Jeckle.
We first met Mario during a workshop in 2002. He formally joined our
group at the beginning of 2004 and was an active and much valued
participant. We are grateful for his generosity of time and effort, and
he will be missed by those who had the pleasure of working with
him.

- The Device Independence Working Group has updated the working Draft
of CC/PP: Structure
and Vocabularies. This document is pre-Proposed Recommendation and
post Last Call Working Draft. Comments should be sent to the www-mobile@w3.org.

- The Device Independence Working Group has released Core Presentation
Characteristics: Requirements and Use Cases Working Draft. This
draft provides a common set of property or attribute definitions that
may be reused in future vocabularies.

- The CC/PP Working Group is closed.
The work on CC/PP will continue in the Device Independence Working
Group. The CC/PP WG's public
page will be maintained to provide the CC/PP specific
information.

- The CC/PP Working Group has updated the working Draft of CC/PP: Structure and
Vocabularies incorporating comments recieved during 2nd Last Call.

- The Device Independence Working Group has released the working Draft
of Delivery
Context Overview for Device Independence. The WG newly introduce
the "Delivery context" that is used to describe user preferences, the
terminal capabilities and any other information to related to Web
access information.

- The CC/PP Working Group has updated the working Draft of CC/PP: Structure and
Vocabularies incorporating comments received during Last Call.

- The Device Independence Working Group has released the first public
Working Draft of Authoring
Challenges for Device Independence. The draft describes the
considerations that Web authors face in supporting access to their
sites from a variety of different devices. It is written for authors,
language developers, device experts and developers of Web applications
and authoring systems.
